Melissa with her terracotta-toned bridal party, each look styled to complement the warm, earthy palette of their dresses. Captured beautifully in the gardens of The Clifton Inn by Ashley Cox Photography.
Some weddings unfold like a romantic poem—full of light, grace, and quiet beauty. Melissa and Ian’s early summer wedding at The Clifton Inn was exactly that. Surrounded by lush gardens and their closest loved ones, the day felt elegant, heartfelt, and deeply personal. Our team over at Charlottesville Wedding Hair and Makeup Artist, were so honored to be part of the celebration, helping Melissa and her bridal party feel radiant, relaxed, and ready for the magic to come.
Melissa brought such calm, natural elegance into the room from the moment she sat in our chair. For her hair, we crafted soft, sculpted waves swept gently to one side—structured enough to hold through every breeze, but with movement that felt romantic and effortless. It perfectly complemented her strapless gown and allowed the floral appliqué details to shine.
Her makeup was all about glow and timeless beauty. We began by prepping her skin for a hydrated, long-wear finish, then created a radiant complexion using warm-toned foundation and soft contouring to bring natural dimension. Her cheeks carried a rosy-peach flush that mirrored the garden’s bloom, and we added just a touch of golden highlighter to her cheekbones and cupid’s bow for a lit-from-within effect. Her eyelids shimmered subtly in champagne and bronze tones, adding depth without overpowering, and her lashes—long, fluttery, and lifted—gave her eyes a romantic softness. We finished with a blush-pink lip, balanced between modern and classic, for a look that was polished, glowing, and entirely Melissa.
The bridal party wore a stunning range of rust and terracotta tones that felt warm and modern against the garden setting. We created custom hairstyles for each bridesmaid, from low buns to textured curls, and paired them with fresh, glowing makeup in warm, earthy tones—soft copper lids, dewy complexions, and neutral lips that complemented both their dresses and the natural setting. The result was polished and cohesive, while still celebrating each woman’s unique style.
The ceremony took place beneath a lush, flower-filled arch in the garden. As Melissa walked down the aisle holding her romantic bouquet, the sunlight catching in her hair, she looked effortlessly radiant. Throughout the day—from heartfelt vows to golden hour portraits—her beauty look stayed flawless and glowing.
Weddings like Melissa and Ian’s are why we love what we do. With Charlottesville Wedding Hair and Makeup Artist, it’s about more than styling—it’s about helping our brides feel calm, confident, and beautiful in their own skin. We’re so grateful to have been part of this unforgettable day.
Love,
